Gentamicin sulfate
Indications/Uses
Infections of the external structure of the eyes & their adnexa, caused by susceptible bacteria.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Eye drop Instill 1-2 drops in affected eye up to 6 times daily. Severe infections May require 1-2 drops every 15-20 min initially. Eye oint Apply 2-3 times daily. In severe infections, frequency may be increased up to 6 times daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Infections caused by virus & fungi.
Special Precautions
Not for inj; prolonged use. Discontinue if irritation develops or if purulent discharge, inflammation or pain becomes aggravated.
Adverse Reactions
Bacterial or corneal ulcers, ocular burning & irritation, nonspecific conjunctivitis, conjunctival epithelial defects & hyperemia.
Drug Interactions
Penicillins, amphotericin, cephalosporins, erythromycin, heparin, Na bicarbonate.
